tore through the town 9

Nature has once again shown its merciless fury. It was on Thursday, tornadoes tore through southern Alabama, sweeping along with it 18 lives, 15 of whom are from Enterprise High School, according to emergency officials.

Dennis Feltgen, meteorologist with the National Weather Service confirms the devastating storm as nothing than a tornado. The students who were at the Enterprise High School were trying to take cover in the hallways at the time the tornado hit.

A student at the school Chase Baldwin said,

The whole building just collapsed on everybody. A bunch of people were trapped under cinder blocks, and people had their heads cut open.

Witnessing the devastation, CNN’s senior Pentagon correspondent Jamie McIntyre, who had gone there to cover a military story said,

[There are] vehicles flipped over, houses gone. This huge brick and steel building [was] torn apart by the power of the storm.

You can see the grief on the faces of the people who come here. I saw one student walking away, being comforted by another student.

According to McIntyre, it’s still unclear if students are trapped inside the building!
