7 Million Trees to Green 7,300 Hectares of Barren Lands

It is a brilliant plan in a bid to rehabilitate forests and green barren lands. Three cities and six districts in the province of North Sulawesi are to be considered for growing at least 7 million trees. The regional Forestry Office chief Moes Lengkong announced this project here on Monday.

The program has undertaken 7,300 hectares of land in the province, as part the National Movement to Rehabilitate Land and Forests (GNRHL) program, Lengkong said. The program would directly involve various elements in the provincial community, especially farmers who live in villages around forest areas. The program was expected to contribute positive impact on the efforts to protect and to conserve the forest as the source of life, with an active participation of the local farmers.
