Would you buy a recycled paper jacket – for $480?

Most of us will think twice before buying a $200-300 jacket even when it comes with a lifetime warranty. However, designers at United Bamboo solicit your patronage for buying their recycled paper-made jacket that flaunts a $480 price tag; and, it won’t adorn your persona for more than a few days – stop thinking about months and years.

Designed by Aki Goto, the designer jacket uses paper and a vintage jacket as its raw material. It’s just like a crumpled piece of cardboard – stitched and then, torn to tickle your fancies. Several brown paper bags have been glued on to a vintage jacket and then coated with varnish. As if this wasn’t enough, the designer further adorned the jacket with duct tape pieces.

Well, we don’t think it’s an actual product. However, if, by any chance, you were planning to buy one, we would like the ask the designer to abandon any proposals of manufacturing such a garment.

After all, sustainability is good but it should be aesthetic. What do you say?
