Western Australia water network gets Southern hemisphere's $290m 'Largest' seawater desalination plant

for giant desalination plant 9For integrating the largest seawater desalination plant in the southern hemisphere, a $290m control system is being supplied into the Western Australia water network, by ABB.

Western Australia’s this desalination plant will be feeding ’45 giga liters of drinking water a year, or 130 million liters a day’ into the integrated water system of the state.

Once completed, the project will surely boost the dwindling water supplies in one of the largest states in the world, guaranteeing 17 per cent of Western Australia’s current water needs! — According to ABB, the project will be capable of doing this regardless of rainfall or drought.

To enable the water produced at the desalination plant to flow into the Perth water distribution network, the ABB is supplying a network control system. The system is based on its MicroSCADA and RTU560 technology.
