What you see in above picture is not just another bench you see every now and then. Created for the exhibition Simple Vision, the Dodai Bench is an out-of-the-ordinary furniture item considering the use of Igusa (a type of woven grass) and Hiba (Japanese cypress wood).
Designed by Peter Marigold, the exclusive bench touts a mat-like surface to justify its inclusion into modern interior spaces. Being a practical furniture piece, the Dodai bench is created by utilizing a log split into two pieces. When rolled back, the bench reveals sufficient storage space for storing household things and gizmos. Colored bungees stretch over knobs to allow a visual appeal to the furniture item.
As Trendhunter reports it, the Dodai Bench is at once simple and intricate, and that’s what makes it more appealing than it actually is.
