Shane Martin’s Heavy Metal Banjo looks great and melodious

We are lazy souls; so, instead of conceiving ways to morph discarded stuff into something more usable, we always prefer to take the other route – throw recyclables away or put them in the recycle bin. Nevertheless, certain eco conscious artists can see the brighter side of trash and thus, by applying their ingenuity, they transform such stuff into awesome artifacts, which undeniably are a spectacle to behold. Enter the Heavy Metal Banjo created by British artist Shane Martin, which enables littered car engine valves, a bicycle gear, an old pair of pliers and bass guitar strings to produce sweetest tunes.

The 3-foot banjo utilizes an old car flywheel and clutch cover as its body. While a piece of rebar and a steel erectors spanner becomes its neck, the head is fashioned out of an old pair of pliers and a piece of chain gear from a pushbike.

Sounds harmonious, looks great – that’s how we can summarize the Heavy Metal Banjo. Creative indeed, what do you say?
