With their aim to offer a novel spin on the usage of discarded cardboard, Polish industrial designer Elena Madejska in collaboration with Anna Szostak has conceived and fabricated Cardboard Furniture for one of their clients. According to designers, they didn’t have the least idea about their client’s actual requirements, except that he needed some uniquely designed and differently crafted furniture items for a kitchenette, a sitting area and sleeping area; and all this using cardboard alone. Designers accordingly created several 3D models in SolidWorks before finalizing their designs for Cardboard Furniture pieces.
The highly organic and undulating furniture items include a stool, a table, chairs, bed, sink and other decorative items. Elena says that they had to work from morning to night – gluing layers of cardboard together, applying acrylic paint, and so on – to finish construction in a timely manner. As is evident from images below, what they finally came up with is sustainably designed Cardboard Furniture pieces, which we believe should suit any homeowners’ liking.
