When it comes to illuminate interior spaces, we have numerous designs available in the market to soothe our fancies and lighting preferences. However, the eco conscious folks must make sure that those lighting options do not eclipse your environmental sensibilities. Enter MATA paper lamp by French designer Catherine Perez Vega, a unique lamp that aims to combine origami (KINGAMI rather) with illumination.

Etymologically speaking, MATA means ‘plant’ or ‘to kill’ in Spanish. Utilizing paper and a cutter, the designer creates amazing, pyramid-shaped lamps which feature four triangles and one square. The designer further utilizes 200 grams of tracing paper to provide reflection and ensure that the lamp offers enough illumination. The three design versions include The OWL (represent air), The FISH (represents water) and The CHAMELEON (represents the Earth). Thus, the three designs signify intelligence, dynamism and camouflage.
