Indosole recycles discarded tires from Balinese landfills to produce sustainable footwear 1

Biking is the most popular form of transportation in the island city of Bali, Indonesia. Accordingly, Balinese dump tons of waste tires into landfills each year, which pollute waterways and cause a discernible nuisance as well. Folks at Indosole, however, have found their solution. The eco conscious bunch of creatives salvages old motorbike tires and other trash from landfills and transforms it into trendy, environmentally friendly footwear.

Founded by two Californians Faye and Kyle, Indosole is working in collaboration with Balinese artisans to make sandals and shoes. Thus far, it had been processing low-volume shipments successfully. However, with the rise in demand for its footwear, the manufacturer now seeks backers’ support at Kickstarter to be able to manufacture 5000 pairs of shoes for spring/summer 2013. Funds, thus raised, will ensure enough cash flow to continue manufacturing shoes on a large scale.

Moreover, their initiative and your support could create more job opportunities for crewmembers in Indonesia, and in the USA as well.
