Greenpeace names Valentino as fashion’s biggest detoxer

Valentino

Just recently, Greenpeace released its green ranking guide, the Fashion Duel, which aimed to compel high-end fashion brands to disclose their environmental policies regarding toxic water pollution and deforestation. The fashion brands were supposed to reveal their commitments to a hazardous chemicals-free fashion industry, supply chains’ information and steps toward rainforest preservation. While fashion houses like Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Hermès, Prada, Alberta Ferretti and Trussardi didn’t even condescend to supply information for the survey, Valentino was adjudged as the fashion’s biggest detoxer for its commitment to eliminate use of hazardous chemicals and to protect rainforests from and through its supply chain.

Greenpeace evaluated each label’s wastes and accordingly, came up with its list of companies that committed to reduce toxic chemicals from its supply chain. The Valentino Fashion Group has further committed to bring hazardous discharge down to zero by 2020.
