The British drivers now have to shift their motor fuel source to the renewable ones. And this is to be done by 2010 to the extent that five percent of all motor fuel sold in Britain will have to come from the renewable sources. The UK Transport Secretary Alistair Darling announced this yesterday. This requirement will lead to a 20-fold increase in biofuels use. The present necessity stands at about 0.25 percent of all road fuel sales. The environment-responsible announcement received a largely positive response from the farming and renewable energy sectors. The measure is known as the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation. And it should save around one million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions in 2010. Darling claims that the measure, once successful would be equivalent of taking a million cars off the road.
